In 2011 the Bike Peddler and NorCal are teaming up with local organizations to provide a variety of services to benefit the Santa Rosa area. We feel there is no better way to say thank you for your continued support than to provide goods and services for the many cycling-related events that take place year round.
Here's a quick look at just some of the events the Bike Peddler and NorCal will be part of this summer and fall.
Wednesday Night Market: Looking for conveniently located parking inside the action of the Wednesday Night Market? If so, ride your bike into town and utilize the FREE bicycle valet parking. Every Wednesday starting May 11th through August 31st the Bike Peddler and NorCal will be sponsoring the Sonoma County Bike Coalition's bike valet service at the Wednesday Night Market.
Starting June 8th and continuing throughout the summer, enter a raffle for a bike provided courtesy of the Bike Peddler. You can purchase tickets at the information booth during the Wednesday Night Market. Want a second free ticket? Use the bike valet service at the market and receive an additional free ticket! Winners will be chosen after each Wednesday Night Market and can be picked up at the Bike Peddler. Good Luck!
*limited to two entries per raffle
Wednesday Night Dirt Crits: For the past 8 years the Bike Peddler has sponsored the Wednesday Night Dirt Crits at Howarth Park. This year, the Bike Peddler has teamed up with the Bike Monkey to provide an even more exciting race experience for all ages. Starting at Franklin park in May and moving on to Howarth Park in June, the Dirt Crits have been providing a fun, no pressure race in Santa Rosa for nearly a decade. For full details on event locations, times and race categories, check out the Bike Monkey's Summer Dirt Crits page.
At the conclusion of the Dirt Crits in August, a year end party is held with prizes, awards, and of course, food and drink. One lucky youngster is even presented with a new mountain bike courtesy of the Bike Peddler!
Bike Rodeos: Through a generous grant from Specialized, the Bike Peddler and the Safe Routes to School program are able to provide mechanics and parts for school Bike Rodeos. What's a Bike Rodeo, you ask? Bike Rodeos are events organized by the Safe Routes to School program, taking place at schools in the Santa Rosa area. Students are able to bring their bikes in for a free safey check and almost any small part needed to keep their bike running safely. Keep your eyes open for a Bike Rodeo taking place at a school near you!
NorCal and the Bike Peddler have always supported local bike projects, events and advocacy groups (SCBC and SRCC members will still get their 10% discount if they show their membership card), but what’s new for 2011 is that we’ve chosen four very worthwhile local cycling projects that our customers can support through a donation process similar to the way Whole Foods donates money when you bring in your own grocery bag.
At the time of purchase, tell the employee if you'd like to split your discount with one of the organizations below (5% to your purchase, 5% to your chosen organization) or give the entire 10%. We are excited to give our customers the opportunity to get directly involved, to help really make a difference, with some local projects that will have tangible local impacts. These particular organizations also happen to mean a lot to us here at NorCal and Bike Peddler. Here is a brief description of the four projects we think you’ll be interested in donating to:
