There are many changes happening at NorCal and the Bike Peddler for 2011, and we are excited to share them with you. You’re obviously already aware of the face lift going on at NorCal, and that we are still OPEN. We apologize for any inconvenience the remodel may have caused to your cycling shopping experience. We can’t wait to share the final product with you, hopefully in about four weeks: stay tuned for our unveiling party.

NorCal and the Bike Peddler have always supported local bike projects, events and advocacy groups (SCBC and SRCC members will still get their 10% discount if they show their membership card), but what’s new for 2011 is that we’ve chosen four very worthwhile local cycling projects that our customers can support through a donation process similar to the way Whole Foods donates money when you bring in your own grocery bag. We are excited to give our customers the opportunity to get directly involved, to help really make a difference, with some local projects that will have tangible local impacts. These particular also happen to mean a lot to us here at NorCal and Bike Peddler. Here is a brief description of the four projects we think you’ll be interested in donating to:

norcalNorCal High School Cycling League: Another program that has, due to tremendous success and growth, gone national with its cycling league model. We are proud to say that we want to support the foundation of a composite team that supports Santa Rosa’s high school riders. NorCal and the Bike Peddler will be offering our local chapter coaching, technical assistance and club deals.
Annadel Trail Maintenance: Rather than give the money directly to Annadel like we did in 2010, we’ll be turning it over to Bike Monkey so that they can put together trail building projects that will be underwritten by us and our customers. Stay tuned for ways to get your hands dirty!
Santa Rosa Bike Park: Bike Monkey has taken the initiative to get a bike park for Santa Rosa and it looks like it won’t be too much longer before that dream becomes a reality. The reality part will take some funding, and with your help, we can actively help with the funding of this great concept.

Feel free to call us, or stop in, with any questions or suggestions, and here’s to making 2011 a rewarding cycling year.
